As restrictions are lifted across the country, GET TOGETHER returns to Sheffield for a huge bank holiday celebration of independent music, art, food, and drink.

In 2021, GET TOGETHER was one of very few festivals that went ahead and received huge praise for its genre spanning and diverse line-up. This year’s event is set to be even bigger and better, with over double the number of stages, all within a 5 minute walk of each other.

GET TOGETHER are pleased to announce the first round of artists for 2022 including SQUID, CONFIDENCE MAN, THE MURDER CAPITAL, GOAT GIRL, PIP BLOM, NEWDAD and many more.

As one of the most exciting bands to emerge in the past few years, SQUID will headline the festival’s main stage. After hugely popular singles like ‘Houseplants’ and critical acclaim for their ‘Town Centre EP’, the band went on to reach no. 3 in the UK album charts with their album ‘Bright Green Field’.

The album is the product of five people who’ve been able to streamline all their thoughts, energy, and creativity into one thing: creating an album of towering scope and ambition. It’s no surprise then, that you look through all the most influential ‘album of the year’ lists, ‘Bright Green Field’ sits firmly at the top.

CONFIDENCE MAN are unarguably one of the hottest acts on the planet right now. A portable party that’s levelled dance floors and flattened festival crowds as it’s rolled out across the world, their performances are custom designed to make you dance and lose your cool. Within only three years of their conception, the Australian four-piece (led by Janet Planet and Sugar Bones) have already played at some of the biggest festivals. And now the party lands in South Yorkshire.

More of a force of nature than band, GET TOGETHER will be the first chance that UK audiences get to hear CONFIDENCE MAN’s new album ‘Tilt’ in the flesh which will be released just before the festival. It’ll also be the first opportunity to hear huge singles like “Does It Make You Feel Good” and First Class Bitch” which every pop star worth their weight wish they had written.

Parading within a brand of dance pop that sounds like Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder gleefully discovering house music via Dee-lite, there’s no question that CONFIDENCE MAN will make you turn it up.

It comes with no surprise that we’re unbelievably happy to announce that THE MURDER CAPITAL will finally be performing at GET TOGETHER! The band were meant to top our original 2021 line-up, but the external impacts of the pandemic meant it wasn’t to be. They were also one of the last bands to perform in Sheffield before we entered the first lockdown and what would turn out to be years of turbulence for the live music industry.

And their music couldn’t be more perfect for the occasion. While loud and striking, their songs are also an extreme vision of tenderness and beauty which has gained them fans amongst music lovers and critics alike. Their performance will feel as triumphant as it does joyous and unmissable.

But there is so much more to this year’s line-up…

Goat Girl originated in 2015, when the four Londoners (Lottie Cream, L.E.D, Naima Jelly and Rosy Bones) came together through their love of music and like-minded attitudes, continually crossing paths at a number of gigs and open mic nights across South London. The quartet’s combined talents and enthusiasm resulted in a uniquely defiant sound with conscious lyricism, all of which wasted no time in pricking the ears of legendary British record label Rough Trade. Using the Brixton Windmill as a sounding board, the warped, country-tinged sound of their debut album Goat Girl engulfed the sonic and social landscape that the band were surrounded by, citing fellow performers Bat-Bike, Horsey, Meatraffle and Warmduscher as influences.

GOAT GIRL’S sophomore album, On All Fours veers away from the confrontational lyricism of their angst-fuelled self-titled debut, to a previously unseen depth and vulnerability. This nuanced shift in lyricism indicates Goat Girl’s maturing perspectives in discussing the world's injustices and social prejudices, using the music to explore global, humanitarian, environmental and mindful wellbeing.

After huge critical praise for their first album, PIP BLOM returned last year with their second album ‘Welcome Break’. Lead single’s ‘Keep It Together’ and ‘You Don’t Want This’ are glistening masterclasses in feel-good chorus- the very kind of coming-of-age relatability where a soul would want to let down their hair, stick their arm out the window of their best friend’s car and roll with the motions in a rapture of soundtracked euphoria, and jangled adventure.

Unhinging genre in our instant-access era of musical snoot, no-one does an enthused-chorus quite like PIP BLOM yet much can be said for this gang being far from one-trick-ponies. This is why the band have grown such a loyal and ever-growing fanbase of fans in the UK. It’s the feeling and unity that their songs bring that make them a perfect addition to our line-up.

NEWDAD formed while still at school in Galway and thank a random band name generator for their unusual moniker. None of the band have kids, sure, but NewDad certainly beats the other contenders: Seth Rogen’s Beard and Pants 2. Plus, Dads do like them. “I think we remind them of bands from their youth,” Julie says. “It’s a great stamp of approval.”

Having initially felt isolated as a new Irish band, the success of friends and fellow countrymen Fontaines DC and The Murder Capital forged a path for the band and in early 2020 they recruited Sean O'Dowd on bass, having existed as three piece prior to that point. Initially getting together because Julie “hates playing and singing on my own,” the band have grown more and more serious about what they do and when lockdown hit they decided to move in together in order to write and record as much as possible.

Work has already begun on a debut album and the band harbor dreams of scoring a movie or TV series, too. All in their early 20s, the four members of NEWDAD are keen to explore and push themselves as far as they can go. They’re a band who work on a sensory level and where emotion is the boldest colour on their palette.

GET TOGETHER prides itself on discovery, and over the coming months even more artists will join the brilliant line-up we have announced today. The festival is somewhere you can come and find your next favourite band.

On top of an abundance of brilliant music, there’s so much more to the festival too. The popular garden area of the festival will become a beer & cider festival which brings together an eclectic host of craft beers, real ales, pilsners, cider & gin to the weekend.

Alongside this will also be a vast array of the best independent and local street food traders offering a wide selection of food from across the world with vendors being announced nearer to the event. The area surrounding all the stages will be filled with art and activities so that GET TOGETHER is without question the biggest bank holiday party in South Yorkshire.
